Fixing leaking pipe under bathroom floor
“Mark came and lifted the tiles on the bathroom floor, and moved the toilet to find the source of the leak, which was the outflow from the toilet (as a result of a poor fitting carried out some years ago). He worked out the best way to sort out the problem, which involved fitting a longer outflow pipe into the lead piping outside. Mark was very helpful and clear in explaining the cause of the leak and the solution. Could have been a very messy job, but he managed to lift the floor tiles with minimum damage. It needed a total of three visits to do the job, to allow time for tile fixings to set properly etc. All visits carried out as scheduled, all the work was very tidy and we are very happy with the result.”

Brilliant Job
We had drainage blockage causing water to gather on the balcony above our front door and then in recent heavy rain leak into house. We always use Putney Plumbers but although booked to come a few days in the meantime hired another local firm as the matter was urgent…..they were unable to solve it and we were getting very anxious. Then Putney Plumbers drainage expert Barry turned up days early and solved the problem swiftly and effectively….naturally we were greatly relieved. The work involved the replacement of the main soil pipe and the re-routing of the plumbing for a replacement WC, which also formed part of the work. The job was completed on time and on budget. I had an airlock in my system which caused my bathroom tap and toilet to stop working. The engineer cleared the pipe, taught me how to do it myself in the future and also fitted a new tap as the old one was completely blocked with residue from the flat’s water tank. He also helpfully wrote up the fact that the significant residue may have caused the airlock which I passed on to my flat management who have now inspected and scheduled a clean of the tank. I have depended on Putney Plumbers on a number of occasions over the past 5 years, and have found them to be professional and reliable. Work done has included replacement of combi boiler; annual boiler checks and gas safety certification; replacement of bathroom basin and kitchen tap; and most recently identifying cause of a leaking shower which required replacement of the ceramic disc cartridge. Their quotation for the new Worcester boiler was honest and competitive. Plumbing services don’t come cheap in London but Putney Plumbers are transparent about their hourly charge. The competent plumbers are backed up by an excellent, helpful and efficient office team. So far nothing has gone wrong, and I can thoroughly recommend them.

Fixing a leaking tap.
“Great service from Putney Plumbers – called them late yesterday afternoon and by 10.30 today we had a new, fully working tap. Rhys fully explained the problem, so that we understood why a new tap was required. He then went off and bought one for us and installed it, most efficient and no fuss. It’s really good to deal with a company which has an administrator at base – so often, we have waited ages for people to ring us back – and then they don’t. With Putney Plumbers, the phone is answered and arrangements made right away. Full marks!”

They phoned me the next day with a quote and followed this up with an email that set out the charges clearly. “The man turned up on time (actually a few minutes early) with all of the tools he needed to do the job. Installed my new cooker, carried out all the necessary checks, made sure that it was working. Once finished, he offered to help me carry the old cooker outside, where I had arranged for it to be taken away, more than I had asked for or expected. As to the office staff, once I had booked the appointment, then had to change it, this was done without fuss. Very impressed, called at 11am and they sent someone within a couple of hours. Very professional. I had never seen the particular part used in the cistern before but managed to track down a suitable replacement which works perfectly. Nice and friendly, would definitely recommend.

The engineer was very thorough, his work was faultless, time-keeping exceptional and he was always prepared to “go the extra mile”. A few unexpected problems arose after the installation was completed and these were dealt with by the engineer very swiftly.
